Howdy Y’all, thanks for stopping by! We are Jay and Krissy Ropp, the owners of The Ole’ Hitchin Post in Larwill, Indiana. We are a family owned and run restaurant with great food, great fun, and great service! We are now offering breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays, specials every day of the week, and adding new items for you to try regularly! We aren’t a fast food joint. And we serve big portions. So we hope you came hungry, and know that sometimes you’ll have to wait…awhile. BUT…we are confident you’ll find that it is more than worth the wait. Think of us as any other sit down casual dining restaurant you go to…only you’ll be sitting in your car or at one of our picnic tables instead of a bench surrounded by people you don’t know…listening to some great tunes while waiting to be served fresh items made especially for you. And your order will be placed and in line before you might even get a table at other establishments. 

Fresh Ingredients

All our meats are fresh. Burgers and Sausage Patties are hand pattied, chicken and fish are hand cut when you order them. And fish, chicken and tenderloin breading…yeah…that’s done at the time you order, too. Pulled Pork is house prepared, Bacon is house cured and smoked, and Sausage is house ground and seasoned. 

Home Cooked.

Macaroni Salad, Coleslaw, Tartar Sauce, Southwest Sauce, BBQ Sauce and Hashbrown Casserole are our own top secret recipes and house made for freshness. Don’t bother asking us how we make them…our lips are sealed!
